More Details About The Discovery Of The Glazer's Plane

jamaicaobserver.com

The plane that was carrying Larry and Jane Glazer has been found in the ocean off the coast of Jamaica.

The high performance tubo-prop containing the well-known entrepreneurs and philanthropists was on the way to Naples, Florida last September 5th when the aircraft apparently lost cabin pressure, causing the Glazers to lose consciousness.

Both were experienced pilots. The Glazer family released a statement saying that a private salvage company recovered significant portions of the plane last week.

Among the agencies helping to coordinate the effort was the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority.

Its Director General, Nari Williams Singh, says the challenge in terms of recovery was partly due to the depth of the ocean in that spot, which is just over 20 miles northeast of Jamaica.

‘The area that the aircraft went down is roughly about 10,000 feet of  water in that area, and at the time of the occurrence the weather conditions also played a part in making it difficult for the recovery efforts at that time. “

Singh says those involved in the effort recovered portions of the plane and human remains, which are being transported by ship back to the U.S. mainland. The statement from the Glazer family says that knowing they did all that could be done to “bring our parents home provides us with the possibility for closure and eventual healing.”

The NTSB is in charge of the investigation of the plane crash.
