Monroe Golf Club To Host 2014 Wegmans LPGA Major

Pittsford's Monroe Golf Club is playing host to the 2014 Wegmans LPGA Tournament.

“It has major written all over it."

Danah Bordner is a two-time winner of the Indiana Female Player of the Year Award and PGA Indiana Women's Open.  She says she’s looking forward playing on the course.

Club officials say the golf course will play 6,717 yards, which is about 200 yards longer than in past years at Locust Hill Country Club. Club officials say this will challenge players from tee to green.

"It's definitely a second shot course," Bordner says.  "So you really have to hit your approach shot very well and it all depends if you leave yourself a 15-footer or a 50-footer. You don't want to short sight yourself. So hopefully I can get a couple of members to show me around and show me the links."

The 2014 Wegmans LPGA Championship at Monroe Golf  Club marks the 60th year as a Major Tour event. This year's purse is $2,250 million.

Complete parking details for the Championship at Monroe Golf Club have yet to be worked out. However, shuttle buses to the golf course will be available for all attendees.

LPGA Championship runs from August 11 - 17, 2014.

Tickets go on sale Sunday on November 17.
