Monroe County Panel Rejects Request To Form Special Committee To Investigate I-Square Controversy

TWC News

A Monroe County legislative committee on Monday night voted down a proposal to investigate COMIDA’s role in the I-Square controversy along party lines. It was rejected 3 to 2, with Republican members of the committee voting against the measure.

According to Time Warner  Cable News,  the Chair of the Agenda/Charter Committee, Tanya Conley, said that she believes the proposed panel would be politically motivated, and she’s recommending that the COMIDA probe be referred to the newly-created Office of Public Integrity.

The Democratic Caucus issued a statement accuse the Republicans of dodging their responsibility, and County Legislator Mark Muoio says even just one unanswered question should be enough to move forward, and he says he has over 20.

Muoio says the new public integrity office has not even been fully implemented yet and says it could be more than a year before it would be ready to take up any cases.
