Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley says she is being treated for cancer. Her office released a statement on Monday saying that she has advised county and city officials as well as members of the judiciary that she has started treatment for a recent cancer diagnosis.
Doorley is being treated for Multiple Myeloma, a cancer formed by malignant plasma cells.
Doorley says she is being treated at the Wilmot Cancer Institute and is continuing to fulfill all her duties and responsibilities as District Attorney and will do so throughout the course of her treatment.
The statement says Doorley will be supported as always by her senior staff including her assistant district attorneys and she wants to thank the community for their thoughts and prayers.
The 52 year old Doorley was first elected D-A in 2011 and re-elected last year. She is the county's first female District Attorney.
