Monroe County CSEA Unit Rejects Contract Proposal

Members of CSEA Unit 7400, which is the largest union providing public services in Monroe County, has voted to reject the terms of a proposed contract.  The vote was 377 yes and 463 no.

The ratification vote was a mail-in secret ballot held from September 22nd to October 6th. Approximately 1,700 CSEA workers have been working under terms of the previous contract which expired in December 2013.

CSEA Unit President Jim D'Amico issued a statement saying that "Although the tentative agreement did not pass this evening, we are moving in the right direction... ur first order of business will be to survey our members and document feedback to figure out the best path forward. Let me be perfectly clear-- we are committed to reaching an agreement that is respectful to employees and taxpayers alike.”

The union represents workers in many departments of county government, including human services, parks, environmental services, law enforcement and finance.
