Monroe County Building will fly a flag for July Pride Week

The Monroe County Office Building plans to raise a pride flag during Rochester’s Pride Week this summer.

A spokesperson for the county confirmed Wednesday that they will be flying a pride flag July 14th through the 22nd.

It is believed to be the first time the county building is officially flying the rainbow flag.

Rowan Collins, Communications Director with the Out Alliance says they are thrilled to hear the news.

Collins says they’ve always had state and city support, and that it’s great to now have it from the county.

"I think it really speaks to their commitment to inclusiveness, to equality and to diversity throughout our county. “

Democratic Leader Cindy Kaleh wrote an open letter to County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo this week asking the county to support pride week by raising the flag.
