City Councilman Adam McFadden is offering his reaction to the resignation this morning of Police Chief James Sheppard.  McFadden says Sheppard has been a friend and has done "all he can" with the position.

McFadden, who chairs the council's Public Safety Committee, says there are some things he'd like to see in the next Rochester police chief. "One that would be willing to examine going away from this call to service system that we have. This two section system I think is destroying police-community relationships. I'd like to see a real active approach to dismantling open-air drug markets, and really opening up the door to policing opportunities for minorities. We've done a really terrible job of that over the last decade."

McFadden says if the next chief meets those criteria, it's not important to him whether he or she is a minority.
