In her State of the County address last night, Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks announced a new initiative to help keep young professionals in the region.
The "Monroe 200" plan will recruit 200 millennials to offer suggestions on jobs, government, and other factors that would encourage them to stay in the Rochester area.
MCC President Anne Kress says calls it an innovative idea. "This is a community that is getting older. In order for it to thrive going forward, we need the voices of the next generation to inform what we're doing. As somebody who spends a lot of time with young people here at MCC, they have extraordinary ideas and passion, and potential."
Kress says, despite our recent economic woes, millennials are very hopeful about the future and well informed about their role as global citizens.
