MCC Extends Lease at Sibley Building, For Now

The board of trustees at Monroe Community College has voted in favor of signing a new five year lease for its downtown campus at the Sibley Building.

The unanimous vote Thursday morning does not change the school's long term plan to relocate to buildings near the Kodak headquarters on State Street.

Renewing the Sibley Building lease gives the downtown campus a home for the short term.

The price tag is $3.35 million in the first year with a 5% increase in each succeeding year.

The county administration and the Sibley Building's owner still have to sign off on the agreement.

MCC released this statement from President Anne Kress:

"We appreciate the willingness of Winn Development and Rochwil Associates to work with us to find terms that meet the needs of all parties, including the College’s need as a public institution for a fiscally responsible lease."
