Maximus Hiring DHS Clients

Monroe County officials and representatives from health services company Maximus say two recent job fairs in the area were a big success.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says Maximus partnered with the county and Department of Human Services to connect Maximus with DHS clients seeking employment.

"We have been successful in providing 47 individuals with an opportunity to feel the success of a job, provide for their families, and to continue to prosper right here in Monroe County," she said.

Dinolfo adds the county has also issued a Request for Proposals for a new initiative for households transitioning from public assistance.

It's designed to get them help so they retain their job and receive training in financial literacy.

Maximus Vice President of Health Operations, Ferdinand Morales, says the company is still looking to fill a "few hundred" positions at its Gates contact center.

And that could be good news for some local Verizon workers, who face uncertainty after Verizon announced it was closing its Henrietta call center and take 600 jobs from the area.

Morales, says Maximus is in discussions with Verizon.

"Our recruiters are getting together over the next couple of weeks, to talk about the pool that is available, for individuals who may be losing their jobs at Verizon and how they can find opportunities with us,"  he said.

Morales says Maximus remains committed to the Rochester community.
