Former Buffalo Bills coach Marv Levy says it's important to keep moving and stay active physically and mentally.

Just a couple of months shy of his 90th birthday, Levy provided the keynote address at the inaugural Embrace Living Conference for Vibrant Seniors.

It's a joint effort of St. John's Foundation and the Jewish Community Center.

Levy says his message coincides the theme of the event.

"Just because you happen to be adding a few years in your life, it's better than the alternative.

And stay busy, stay active, stay involved mentally and physically."

Levy says it's better to wear out, than to rust out.

"I exercise everyday, without exeption...lift weights three days a week, I'm out for a long walk, and I intersperse a little running with it still, each day at least for an hour, I watch my diet, and stay mentally active, it helps you physically as well," Levy said.

As for this year's Buffalo Bills, Levy says the team has a lot of pieces in place and he's optimistic the team will end is playoff drought.

Tammy Cohen is vice president for advancement at St. John's.

She says Levy has embodied the spirit of embracing living throughout his career.
