Rochester Police have made an arrest in connection with Wednesday night's Genesee Street shooting, but police say he is NOT believed to be the person who actually fired the shots from the car involved in that drive-by incident that killed 3 people and injured four others.
32 year old Quartermaine Titus of Rochester is accused of firing shots in the direction of the vehicle near the Boys & Girls Club, but not hitting anyone with his gunfire. Police aren't saying who fired first, Quartermaine, or whoever fired from the car involved in the drive-by.
He now faces a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon. At a news conference at the Rochester Public Safety Building on Saturday, Chief Michael Ciminelli , Mayor Lovely Warren and District Attorney Sandra Doorley also implored people in the community to come forward with any information they can.
Officials emphasized that they can take that information anonymously. There is a $10,000 reward for info leading to the arrest of those responsible for the crime.
Doorley says it's ironic the shooting happened on the night of a basketball game sponsored as part of an anti-violence effort, and she says " all lives matter and must be respected."
Mayor Warren said to the community, " I'm begging you, if you know something, please come forward, the victims and their families deserve justice."
The shooting took the life of 17 year old Jonah Barley, 19 year old Raekwon Manigault and 25 year old Johnny Johnson. Of the four men who survived, one remained in the hospital Saturday and was listed in satisfactory condition. Names of those who survived have not been released yet.
Ciminelli says police are working this case around the clock.
