Rochester Mayor-Elect Lovely Warren went on Facebook over the Christmas holiday to ask for prayers for her grandfather who recently suffered a stroke. Cecil McClary is 87 years old. During her campaign for mayor, Warren referenced McClary on several occasions, citing him as an inspiration, and in her Facebook comments she says that "he's a fighter and I'm a believer."
Warren noted that McClary survived being shot at, which happened while he worked as a security guard in 1984, as well as falling three stories off a ladder.
She thanked all those who responded to her initial Facebook post asking for their prayers, when she said she hoped her grandfather will join her at her inauguration next week.
