Local WW II Veteran's Act of Kindness is Subject of Film

This evening WXXI, through our Veteran's Connections initiative, is hosting a free screening of the film American St. Nick at the Little Theater.

It tells the story of a Rochester-area U.S. Army colonel and his fellow soldiers, who brought Christmas back to the children of the small Luxembourg town of Wiltz during World War II.

Click on the LISTEN link above to hear that local veteran, Richard Brookins, who now lives in Pittsford, talk about a tradition that began on December 5, 1944 and continues to this day.

The premiere of American St. Nick is at 6:30 tonight at The Little Theater.  The screening is free and is sponsored by WXXI’s Veterans Connections initiative and M&T Bank.

Beth Adams joined WXXI as host of Morning Edition in 2012 after a more than two-decade radio career. She was the longtime host of the WHAM Morning News in Rochester. Her career also took her from radio stations in Elmira, New York, to Miami, Florida.
