Local Staffing Company Closing Gates Operation

A staffing company that has some local operations says it will be closing its facility at the Rochester Technology Park by February of next year.

Adecco Group, which is a Swiss company, will be closing its office in Gates which will result in about 75 positions being cut.  That's according to a notice posted at the New York State Labor Department.

The notice says the layoffs will begin in early December, continuing until the following February. That Adecco office opened in 2008, and at the time officials said it would be a payroll distribution center for its U.S. operations. A statement released by the company to WXXI News says that it had to make the difficult decision to close the service center as Adecco streamlines its business. Some of the jobs will be moved to a different Rochester location while others will be relocated to locations on Long Island and in Florida.

The company has other branch operations in Rochester and all of those office will remain open.
