Local Red Cross Volunteer Heads To Texas

A day after severe weather left three people dead and washed away hundreds of homes in Texas and Oklahoma, another Rochester area Red Cross volunteer is deploying to that region.

Officials with the organization say that Lucille Frisicano of Webster left Monday for Oklahoma to help Red Cross efforts there as a health services supervisor. She becomes the 6th volunteer from the Western and Central New York Region to help with the Red Cross response in that area.

The Red Cross is doing things like providing shelter, food and other types of support.

Other area volunteers are from communities including Pittsford and Tonawanda.

Hundreds of homes were destroyed in recent days as large parts of the central and southern Plains states faced flash floods and tornadoes.
