Local Man Bikes 400 Miles In Fundraising Effort
One Webster resident started a really long bike ride on Sunday on the Erie Canal trail on his recumbent tricycle. Richard Vuillequez is participating in the annual 8-day, 400-mile Cycling the Erie Canal bike tour.
More than 500 people will ride from Buffalo to Albany along the canal's scenic path beginning Sunday.
The 74 year old Vuillequez has been training since March - working his way up to biking 50 miles a day.
"The only sport I’ve ever done anything in to speak of is skiing. I’ve been skiing all winter, and basically I’ve never done anything with a bicycle maybe riding around the corner or something like that. I decided to do because i want to keep myself younger than I really am."
Vuillequez is pedaling to raise money for new seats at The Little Theater. He is member of the board of trustees for WXXI and The Little. You can get more info about his effort here.
