Local leaders look at economic highlights of 2017

Members of the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation and Rochester Rotary Club met to share economic highlights from the last year in Rochester.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Mayor Lovely Warren both spoke at the event.

Warren focused on the addition of Uber and Zagster to Rochester, saying it’s important to continue to develop different options for transportation.

"Our college students are coming from other cities and wanting to get around to different restaurants, different events in our center city. And being able to give them that opportunity to get home, to and from home safe is of course the number one thing. But we also have a number of citizens who are utilizing Uber and Lyft and ridesharing to get to and from work."

County Executive Dinolfo agreed, saying these services will hopefully bring more employers to the area.

"Certainly our community is better for them being here. They provide jobs for our local people but also encourages people to continue to do business in the county of Monroe."

Mayor Warren also mentioned a few other successes this year including the inner loop completion and work on the marina.

Looking into next year, Warren says they are working on now developing the inner loop as well as redevelopment projects in the Bulls Head neighborhood and the La Marketa project.
