A local high tech company is getting a $450,000 federal grant to develop and commercialize an innovative method of producing solar power cells.
Intrinsiq Materials, which is based at the Eastman Business Park, will be working with RIT and SUNY to come up with solar cells that can be produced less expensively and also that are manufactured with a more environmentally-friendly process.
According to Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, Intrinsiq is a leading company using nano-technology in the area of printable electronic ink. The company now has ten employees and expects to create up to 25 new positions as a result of the new project.
