Local Friendly's Restaurants Being Sold

One of the largest operators of local restaurants is selling a number of those eateries. The Kessler Family corporation is selling 35 of its Friendly's restaurants in upstate New York, including eleven of them in the Rochester area,  to Friendly's Ice Cream.

Kessler is selling those franchised restaurants to the Friendly's corporation, which says it has been working to reposition itself and bring the brand back to its roots.

A statement from Friendly's CEO says the sale will allow the company to preserve over 13-hundred jobs in New York State.  Friendly's says it plans to keep the same level of commitment to the restaurants that the Kessler family has had over the years.

The  Kessler Family company also announced it will close eight restaurants in Central New York.
