A Local Fallen Soldier Posthumously Promoted

Senator Chuck Schumer stopped in Rochester Thursday to help honor a local soldier who died in combat. Theodore Glende was killed in Afghanistan last July while helping wounded soldiers during combat. Schumer says he worked with the Department of Defense to have Glende posthumously promote from Private First Class to Specialist.

"They told him right after he died because of his valor they'd promote him from Private First class to Specialist," Schumer says. "Then some how they took it away. Today, I presented the family with his pin that showed he was a Specialist," Schumer says. "His patch that he would put on his uniform."

Schumer met with the family at the Veterans Walk in Highland Park.

The Senator is now introducing legislation to have the Jefferson Road post office dedicated in Glende's name.
