Lifetime Care has named it's hospice and palliative care center for former CEO David Klein.
The Center for Compassion and Healing opened in 2006, providing services for patients recovering from illness or surgery and families seeking palliative or hospice services.
Klein, who retired last year as CEO of Lifetime Healthcare Companies, the parent company of Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, says there is a real need in the community for these kinds of services "dealing with not only the patient, but the patient's family as the family goes through grieving, through bereavement and helping them to cope through talking and other therapies."
Klein says the center's services are made possible largely by the work of more than 230 volunteers, who provided nearly 15,000 hours of service in 2012
