ALBANY (AP) As New York lawmakers enter the final weeks of their session in Albany, prospects have dimmed for a number of once high-profile proposals.
Those include a ban on potentially hazardous chemicals in children's toys, a minimum wage increase and a bill to prevent discrimination against transgender people.
Other bills that could be left languishing include one to prohibit cosmetics containing environmentally hazardous microbeads, and the Dream Act, which would extend financial aid to students in the country illegally.
In most cases, the measures have support in one legislative chamber but not the other.
Lawmakers face several big issues before they adjourn on June 17. Laws governing New York City's rent regulations and a key real estate tax break expire next month and must be renewed if they are to continue.
