Lawsuit Brought Against Aircraft Companies In Connection With Glazer Plane Crash

A member of the Glazer family in Rochester has brought a wrongful death against several aircraft companies in connection with the plane crash that killed his parents two years ago.

The suit is being brought by Ken Glazer, administrator of the estate of well-known local philanthropists and business people Larry and Jane Glazer.

The civil complaint alleges that the French maker of  the private plane, called a Socata TBM 900, and other companies were negligent in the design and manufacture of the plane.

It crashed in September of 2014 off the coast of Jamaica, when  Larry and Jane Glazer had been headed to Florida.T he aircraft apparently lost cabin pressure, causing the Glazers to lose consciousness.

The lawyer for Ken Glazer, Daniel Rose of the New York City law firm of  Kreindler & Kreindler, says besides seeking damages, it's hoped this lawsuit will prevent this kind of situation from happening again with this type of aircraft.

“The suit is about really getting answers to exactly what happened, finding out who’s accountable and responsible for the failures of that system and making sure this doesn’t happen to anybody else. “

The National Transportation Safety Board has been investigating the accident, but at this point, has not issued its final report.

A spokesperson for Daher, the French company that manufactures the Socata, issued a statement which said that they "fully cooperate with the National Transportation Safety Board on this tragic accident."
