Landmark Society Releases Priority List

Landmark Society

The Landmark Society of Western New York has released its second "Five to Revive" list -- five properties the preservation organization say are of significant historical and economic value, and by rehabilitating them, they could become catalysts for the communities around them.

Wayne Goodman is Executive Director of the Landmark Society.

He says their goal is to return those properties to a place of prominence in their respective communities.

This year's "Five to Revive" list includes:

--The Auditorium Theater

--5-thousand Designated Buildings of Historic Value from the city of Rochester (DBHV)

--Erie Canal Warehouse in Brockport

--Hillside Cemetery and Chapel, in Clarendon, Orleans County

--Former Trinity Episcopal Church, Seneca Falls.

Goodman says they've made substantial progress on last year's list, when the Five to Revive program debuted.

He says the Landmark Society will now work with the stakeholders, elected officials, and community leaders, to try to breathe new life into those resources, so they can serve our communities in the decades ahead.

Goodman says next immediate steps involve developing a specific strategy for success for each property.
