The National Weather Service has extended its Lake Effect Snow Advisory until 4 am Monday for northern Monroe, Wayne, and northern Cayuga counties.

Expect light snow and areas of blowing snow Sunday, with the steadiest lake snow late in the afternoon and at night.

Another 3-5 inches of snow could fall in areas with persistent lake snows.

It will be windy. The weather service calls for winds from the northwest at 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph, producing blowing and drifting snow at times.

Travel could be difficult from snow covered roads and reduced visibility in some areas.

Saturday, Rochester received 0.6 inches of snow at the Greater Rochester International Airport measuring site, raising this month’s total to 2.4 inches.

Winds Saturday peaked at 30 mph from the west, with a maximum gust of 40 mph.
