Kodak sets sustainability goals in new corporate responsibilty report

Kodak is releasing its 2016corporate responsibility report, which sets goals for environmental and social responsibility.

The company has set 10 goals it wants to reach by 2025. They include approaching zero waste at Kodak Sites worldwide, diverting waste from landfills and incinerators, and further reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption.

Dick Szembrot is Kodak’s manager of health, safety and environment. He notes that the new corporate responsibility report is the first one since 2014, when Kodak had just emerged from bankruptcy.

“Even then we had a good story to tell, but of course we were focused on many other things at that time and I think that as we’ve transformed our enterprise now is a good time to share more of the good things we’re currently doing, but also kind of set the stage for our aspirations, our company goals for the future,” Szembrot told WXXI News.

Szembrot say that Kodak not only wants to reduce waste at its facilities, but to help their customers reduce waste as well.

“It’s an important thing now for customers; we get requests all the time, customers wanting to do good things for the environment and how can we help them do that through the kind of product developments that we implement, and what we do with our innovation and our research labs.”

Among the social responsibility goals listed in the report:  doubling the number of hours that Kodak employees support local communities through philanthropy and volunteerism, reducing workplace injuries and putting a continued emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
