Rochester, NY – Not long after Eastman Kodak Company announced that its digital product sales now make more money than film, sales figures show Kodak digital cameras are the top sellers in the U.S. market for the second year in a row.
Sales of digital cameras in the United States grew by 21 percent in 2005, to 28 million. And nearly one out of four of those cameras was sold by Kodak. The company shipped 7 million cameras to retailers.
Kodak boosted its market share from 21 percent in 2004 to nearly 25 percent in 2005. The company widened its lead over Sony and Canon.
Canon moved past Sony into the number two spot in the U.S. market.
