Ed Fiandach, the lawyer who has been representing Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio in her DWI case, has been fired again.
Fiandach confirms for WXXI news that Astacio has decided to get another lawyer. He had been fired by Astacio a few weeks ago, but later said that the judge’s sister had dismissed him without the approval of Astacio.
Fiandach says in cases like this, emotions can run high, and it’s Astacio’s choice who she wants to represent her.
Fiandach says he believes Astacio is a good person, and still has a lot to offer the community, and hopes she can eventually get beyond this situation.
She has been in jail, awaiting another court date after a judge ruled she violated the terms of her conditional release.
