Judge Astacio released from jail on Thursday

Spectrum News

Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio was released from jail early Thursday morning, after being there for more than a month.

Spectrum News reports Astacio offered no comment as she quickly got in the SUV driven by her sister. The judge signed "peace" to media members as she rode by.

Last week Astacio was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years probation for violating conditions of her earlier DWI conviction.

Her sentence takes into account the time that Astacio spent in jail before she was sentenced. She was originally put in jail on June 5.

As part of her sentence Astacio will also have to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet.

There has been no word yet on the outcome of any investigation by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, which is the agency that would decide her future status as a judge.
