Joni Monroe is retiring as Executive Director of the Community Design Center Rochester, a position she has held for the last 12 years.
Monroe is a founding member of the organization, which is a non-profit organization that provides design assistance for neighborhoods and towns. The group is dedicated to promoting healthy, sustainable communities, and also organizes the annual Reshaping Rochester series.
Officials say under Monroe's leadership, the CDC Rochester has extended its outreach to the nine-county Greater Rochester region and has developed educational and training programs to encourage thoughtful policies affecting communities
Monroe will continue to work with the organization in various capacities and a search committee has been established to find her successor.
