The 2014 Xerox International Jazz Festival is in the books, and it finished this year with the highest ever attendance.
Organizers say about a thousand more people attended the nine day festival this year than last year, bringing total attendance to around 196,000.
The event draws people from all over the world.
The festival ended Saturday night with people packing the East Avenue/Alexander Street area as well as all of the various venues located near Gibbs Street.
Co-producer and founder John Nugent says it's not all about increase the attendance level every year. In fact, he says, they need to keep an eye on the growth of the event to keep things manageable.
"You know, bigger and better, it's a nice concept for certain things, we want it to be just good, always, and the size of this event now, it fits where we're at. Getting bigger, it's not really my goal as a producer, I just want it to be a really high level of artistry."
It's estimated the festival pumps about $10 million into the local economy. Nugent says they will soon sit down with city officials to begin planning for next year.
