Violinist ItzhakPerlman will be awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Music by the University of Rochester when he performs in a sold-out concert in Rochester this weekend.
Perlman will be performing on Saturday night with the Eastman School of Music's Philharmonia at Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre. The Philharmonia will be conducted by Neil Varon.
U of R President Joel Seligman and Eastman Dean Jamal Rossi will present Perlman with the degree following his performance of Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor with the orchestra.
Perlman will also perform Dvorak’s ‘Carnival’ overture and Brahm’s Symphony No. 4.
Perlman is actively involved in music education.
