'It's a Wrap' in Rochester for Spider-Man Film Shoot
"Spider-Man spotted on top of an NYPD car during the Rochester filming on Thursday:
Nine days of filming of some action sequences for an upcoming Spider-Man movie in Rochester finished on Thursday.
Mayor Tom Richards says the filming of scenes for the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" movie has been a learning experience, and he admits he underestimated how interested people would be in it.
He says downtown has been full of people who wanted to see just how filming a movie happens.
Richards says on balance, this has been good for Rochester, despite a few disruptions for people.
Richards says some businesses were paid for the inconvenience, while others benefited in a way they couldn't otherwise have expected.
And he says that for every inconvenienced pedestrian or worker downtown, there was someone else who got to participate in something they've never done before.
RTS buses resume a normal schedule as of early Friday morning. With bus stops moved off a portion of Main Street during the shooting of scenes from the upcoming Spider-Man movie, bus riders had to go to alternate bus stops, including some along Broad Street.
RTS officials also say that with the filming finished here, the “Where's My Bus” feature, which provides real time information on bus locations and arrival times via text or email will be fully operational again.
RTS is also unveiling a new website with information for customers who want to attend some of the special events this Spring and Summer, including the Lilac Festival which comes up this weekend. You can visit www.rgrta.com/festivals for details.
