"It's a Great Day for (Outdoor) Hockey"

Borrowing a catchphrase from the late hockey coach Bob Johnson, ice hockey is coming to Rochester's outdoor baseball stadium next winter.
Officials gathered at Frontier Field today to announce a week-long festival of events on an ice rink to be constructed at the ball field in December.
It will feature a regulation Rochester Americans game, contests with RIT's mens and women's teams, several Section V games and a Sabres-Amerks alumni game.
Ice time will also be made available to the public for private parties or events.
County Executive Maggie Brooks says this is exciting on a number of levels, and should have a big economic impact, adding thousands to Monroe County's one billion dollar tourism industry.
Rochester's outdoor hockey event runs December 13th to the 22nd at Frontier Field.
