I-Square Development In Irondequoit Gets 'Green' Roof

The developers of the I-Square Project in Irondequoit are announcing the opening of the rooftop at The Market at I-Square.

That rooftop is open to the public for dining and drinks from six establishments within The Market complex.

Officials say it is a ‘green roof’ installed by Broccolo Tree & Lawn care and includes plants and plant beds that will reduce storm water runoff and provide heating and cooling insulation for that building.

The rainwater is used for irrigation of the I-Square development.

Phased construction of the I-Square project calls for seven new buildings. The next building scheduled for construction will use sustainable energy features and developers say it will provide a hands-on learning experience to visitors about the latest green technologies as well as an art gallery for local artists.
