I-490 Bridge Over Marsh Road To Be Replaced

wxxinews

The NYS Transportation Department says construction will begin soon on a $4.1 million project to replace the bridge that carries I-490 over Marsh Road in Pittsford.

Officials say the project has been designed to minimize impact on traffic by building the new bridge in stages and allowing travel in both directions to be open during the construction.

The bridge is located between Exit 25 (Route 31F & Fairport Road) and Exit 26 (Route 31).

The bridge was built in 1955 and the DOT says it carries an estimated 44,000 vehicles each day. The replacement bridge will be slightly wider than the existing bridge.

Construction of the new bridge is expected to begin early this month and be completed in the fall of 2017.

Marsh road will remain open except for some short term closures during key construction activities.
