Hundreds of Charlotte residents packed the Robach Community Center on Monday night, looking for answers about the new proposed development at the Port of Rochester.
The city selected Michigan-based developer Edgewater for the project, estimated to cost $77 million.
Many of those speaking at the meeting said the city has not been listening to their concerns. They are unhappy about a proposal for a high-rise as well as a potential loss of parking spaces and other issues.
"The view will be lost. I think the ambiance of the area will be lost. A lot of people down here care about what's going on," Lee Selover, Port of Charlotte Business Association told Time Warner Cable News.
City officials indicated that the design process for the new project is still ongoing.
Another meeting is scheduled for Thursday; that one will include representatives from Edgewater Development as well as the city. It's set for 7 p.m. at the Robach Community Center.
