Gas prices rose about a penny and a half in the Rochester market the last week, while the national average climbed nearly 13 cents.

Compare that to Danville, Illinois, where the price has risen almost 32 cents the past week.

Patrick DeHaan is senior petroleum analyst for gasbuddy.com.

He says Rochester is a little bit behind the curve when it comes to gas prices, and while Rochester was a bit late to see the drop in prices, we are also slower to see the increase.

Prices at the pump normally start to increase in February as refineries start to do maintenance and make the switch to more expensive blends of gasoline.

Looking ahead, DeHaan says Rochester drivers will likely be paying far less for a gallon of gas this summer than they did in 2014.

He expects prices for much of the summer to be right around 3 dollars a gallon.
