An arrest has been made after a nearly 24-hour search for a homicide suspect in Rochester.

Deputy Police Chief Mike Wood says that 26-year-old Marcus Freeman was arrested just before 4pm today at a home on 2nd Street near Central Park in Rochester. Freeman was alone in the home at the time of the arrest.

Wood a number of tips and anonymous 911 calls helped lead police to the suspect’s location.

"Over the last several hours as a result of that we were able to hone in on this particular address and feel confident that he was in there and fortunately we were able to take in him custody without any further incident," said Wood.

The Deputy Chief adds this is just the beginning and not the end of this investigation.

"We have a number of addresses for him, we need to confirm a lot of information," Wood said. “We have to secure the location, do a search warrant, we need to look at the location with the respect to who lives there, are there harboring issues," added Wood.

Two people were shot, and others shot at, on Pullman Avenue Wednesday morning. One of the shooting victims, 28-year old Walesy Alvarez, died last night. The other Victim, 33-year old Martin Moore, is in guarded condition.

Wood says Freeman will likely be arraigned Thursday morning.
