Making manufacturing sexy again, Clinton agreed with one of the members of a manufacturing roundtable in Syracuse Friday that getting more young people interested in manufacturing careers needs a “p.r. “ push.
“We’ve got to have some TV shows about them and have some characters about them and Flashdance is a great suggestion because we’ve got to make it, as you say ‘sexy,’ we’ve got to somehow convey all the opportunities that are out there,” Clinton told those at the Institute of Technology at Central High School in downtown Syracuse.
Clinton used her Syracuse stop to talk up a new plan her campaign has unveiled, meant to create manufacturing jobs.
“If elected President I’ll invest $10 billion in a program I’m calling “make it in America, “ and that would be partnerships across the country doing what we did here in New York, bringing together universities, local, state, federal government resources to support manufacturing jobs and businesses.”
Clinton admitted to nostalgia during the roundtable sharing memories with some of the businesses and organizations she worked in her 8 years as a U.S. Senator from New York.
Clinton is looking to wrap up a majority of her home state’s 291 delegates in the New York State Primary on April 19th.
