There was a fundraising event Friday night to mark 60 years of service by an organization that helps those in our community with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The Arc of Monroe County provides a variety of programs for more than 1,700 people and their families.
The Arc Foundation manages the organization's funds.
Executive Director Eric Scheele says the Arc has always been a leader in employment services, and now they are helping families develop new options for housing.
"It might come in an apartment, it might come in a community-based environment, but we're looking at how to provide an opportunity for families where they are in this modern time, and it's a lot of tailoring, updating, and modernizing those services," he said.
The Arc of Monroe County is one of longest-standing organizations of its kind in Monroe County.
The 60th anniversary fundraiser was held at the Strathallan.
Scheele says they hope to raise $100 thousand dollars for Arc programs and services.
