Police in the Wayne County village of Newark are looking for a man wanted in the early Saturday morning shooting of a mother and her 11 year old son.

Chief of Police David Christler tells WXXI that Aron Bell, 45, of Blackmar Street in Newark could be in Rochester, Monroe or Wayne county.

Christler says Bell is wanted for allegedly entering his girlfriend’s apartment on Mason Street in the village just before 2 am Saturday. Police say he shot his girlfriend once in the head, and their 11 year old son in the arm. Bell used a small caliber handgun, according to police.

Two other children, ages 3 and 13, were not harmed. Christler says the mother and son are expected to survive the assault.

Police believe Bell is driving a black 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, with New York license plates of GTN 5526.

Newark Police are working with Wayne County Sheriffs Deputies and New York State Police to find Bell, whom they consider to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to call Newark Police at 315-946-9711 or 911.
