Grant Will Help Urban League Support Small Business

Rochester, NY – Rochester's Urban League has been awarded three hundred thousand dollars to support small businesses. The grant from the U.S. Business Administration will launch a new pilot program.

The Urban League of Rochester says the federal funding will go directly to assisting small businesses in the area. It will help provide training, mentoring, and procurement assistance to individuals looking to start their own business.

In addition the teaming up pilot program will find other small businesses interested in teaming up and giving them tools to work together to bid for larger contracts.

Vice President of Program Planning at the Urban League Sheila James says a businesses' first year is it's toughest.

The Urban League says its pilot program will focus on minority and women owned businesses.
