Grand Jury refuses to indict Greece man after controversial rap video

A grand jury in Monroe County has declined to indict a Greece man who had faced a felony charge of making a terroristic threat because of a rap video he had posted online.

Greece Police last month charged 23 year old Randy Ross after viewing a video in which they say he can be saying and making terroristic threats on various school properties in the Greece School District.

There is a YouTube music video by Ross which included the outside of Greece Arcadia High School.

The video became known not long after the Parkland, Florida school shooting that killed 17 people, and that event, along with discussions about what constitutes free speech added to the controversy over Ross’s arrest.

His lawyer, Mark Young, is quoted in the D&C as saying, "It wasn't a case…they rushed to judgment here where they shouldn't have."

Greece Police on Friday released this statement:

"We recently learned the case against Randy Ross resulted in a "No-Bill" vote by a Monroe County Grand Jury.  While we are disappointed and disagree with that decision, we also respect the legal process that led to that result.  We believe it was a proper charge and stand by our decision to make the arrest in this case."
