Governor Cuomo Endorses Lovely Warren For Mayor

Governor Cuomo has endorsed Democratic candidate for Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren. That according to a news release issued Saturday by the Warren campaign, which quotes Cuomo as  calling her a “proven and inspirational leader who had demonstrated that she has a unique ability to build bridges and bring people together” for the betterment of Rochester.

Warren is currently the Rochester City Council President, and has been on the council since 2007. She defeated incumbent Tom Richards in the September Democratic primary. Richards remains on the ballot next week on the Independence and Working Families party lines, but he has not been actively campaigning for the seat and has endorsed Warren’s candidacy. There has been a movement by the Independence Party and others in the city to try and get people to vote for Richards anyway.

Warren also faces Green Party candidate Alex White next Tuesday.
