Governor Cuomo made a stop in Rochester on Saturday at the YWCA on North Clinton Avenue. He was there as part of a statewide toy, coat and school supplies holiday giving drive that began earlier this month. The state collected thousands of donated items to be distributed to families in need.
In Rochester, 140 toys and 200 coats were delivered to the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County.
During his Rochester stop, Cuomo noted that even with some improvements in the economy this is still a tough time for a lot of families, especially with cuts in the federal good stamp program.
He says New Yorkers are a loving, kind and generous people, and he urged everyone to visit organizations that are helping those in need and do what they can to give back this holiday season.
Cuomo was joined at the YWCA event by a number of area politicians including Mayor-Elect Lovely Warren.
