Larry Glazer left an enormous impact on downtown Rochester through his numerous development projects.

Heidi Zimmer-Meyer, President of the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation, said we can see the lasting impact of Larry Glazer's life's work throughout the city from the revival of Midtown to the redevelopment of the former Genesee Hospital and countless other projects.

"You can see the impact of what he did all over the city all throughout the community; his kind of gutsiness and instinctive real estate approach. He was able to take buildings and projects and breathe life into them in ways that I have rarely seen." Zimmer-Meyer says this is just a devastating loss, especially for Larry and Jane Glazer’s family members.

"It's going to be a very difficult road, because it was a very close-knit company. He had family involved. His family was incredibly close. And they will be grieving in ways that I don't think anyone from the outside will likely understand. I think they're going to need time and space to negotiate their way through all this."

Harold Samloff was Larry Glazer's friend and business partner for many years. They started Buckingham Properties together. Samloff retired from the business about a decade ago.

Samloff , who is an attorney, says that Glazer had a wide knowledge of buildings and facilities.

"Whenever we discussed anything he was so quick that it would take me about twice as long to understand what was going on as he did, but I always came to the same conclusion that he did, so in all those years, we had literally no friction whatsoever in the way we operated.”

Samloff calls the deaths a family loss, a personal loss and a community tragedy.
