Girl Scout Cookies will be getting a little more expensive in this region with next year's batch.
Girls Scouts of Western New York has announced that chapter will implement a 50-cent per box increase to $4.00 for the 2016 cookie sale program.
Judy Cranston, who is CEO of the regional chapter, says it's the first price hike in eight years.
She says that the increase is needed to keep pace with higher costs for producing the cookies.
Cranston also notes the price change will also increase the amount of money that goes to the troops.
"Money goes from every box sold to the troops so they use that for troop projects that they want to do, participating in camp, other programming that we offer."
Cranston says Girl Scouts of Western New York is the last Girl Scout council in the northeast to increase its price for cookies. The program starts in January and runs into April.
