Senator Kirstin Gillibrand says she will introduce a measure to stop the rollback of women’s health care.
The New York Democrat plans to file an amendment to the federal budget that would take a stand against rolling back any attempt to take away benefits realized under the Affordable Care Act for women.
“Every day, my colleagues are getting one step closer to once again making it impossible for millions of American women to see a doctor without bankrupting themselves or to access the medicine and reproductive health care services they need to lead healthy, productive lives.”
She added that, “millions of New Yorkers would lose access to STD testing and screening; pap tests , breast exams, comprehensive reproductive health care and cancer screenings.”
Republicans in Congress have talking about replacing the Affordable Care Act with something else, but there has not been a consensus yet on a specific plan.
